Building a New Industrial Machinery Bearing Plant In Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

Increasing Production Volume as Part of Global Growth Strategy.

ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN, (August, 2006) – NSK Ltd. (TSE 6471, Seiichi Asaka – President) announced that the company will be constructing a new manufacturing facility in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture.  The new manufacturing facility is part of the company’s mid-term plan to reinforce its market presence in the this market segment and will be producing bearings for industrial machinery applications, such as steel equipment, machine tools, construction equipment, aircraft, robots and wind generation.  Once completed, this facility is expected to increase the manufacturing volume from the current level of $500 million to $700 million in two years.

 

NSK Ltd. has plans to invest nearly $100 million on this facility with an area of 15,000 square meters and will employ over 100 employees.  Production is expected to start in January of 2008.  Tom Rouse, President of NSK Corporation in the United States commented “this expansion is a critical component of NSK’s ability to meet the growing demands of customers around the world and support our strategic efforts here in the United States.”
